Traditional exterior stucco is made of natural materials; it consists of three layers or coats of a mix of sand, cement and water, applied over a wire or wood lath. Mock or synthetic stucco is lighter, and often uses a foam insulation base.
Typical costs:
Stucco installation runs around $6-$9 a square foot, or about $12,000-$18,000 for a 2,000-square-foot exterior of a 3-bedroom home, depending on the complexity of the project, the location and the local economy.
Costs vary considerably for smaller projects, such as repairing the stucco after installing new windows. For example, a Northern California contractor has a minimum fee of $1,200 to repair stucco around two medium-sized windows.
DoItYourself.com provides detailed directions for a repairing a small area of stucco. Materials would cost $20-$50.
What should be included:
HomeInspections.com outlines common problems with one-coat stuccos and a specific type of synthetic stucco--Exterior Insulation Finish Systems or EFIS.
Shopping for stucco:
Or talk to other owners of stucco homes, suppliers such as lumber yards, bank loan officers, residential building inspectors and general contractors about which local stucco companies are best.
Ask about the contractor's length and type of experience, especially if there's something unusual about your project. Request (and check) references from satisfied customers.
these two were experts when it comes to knowledge of stucco and stucco related products.they put a beautiful color coat of stucco over my existing, dingy old stucco.my house looks brand new and all the neighborhood is green with envy.they also put foam trim around my windows and garage door.the closest bid out of 4 contractors was $3500 more.their work couldnt have better.the trim makes my NEW home stand out as the nicest house on the block.five stars for these two.steve/pat 925 497 2043 925 435 7378

These guys came exactly on time. Performed work in a really professional matter. And with Great Quality!...My neighbors were all jealous..lol... They made construction around the house seem like a breeze. No complaints
We saw a house with walls like the ones you see in Italy, absolutely beautiful, so, we knocked on the door and asked the homeowner abt the contractor who did their house and the experience. We were told a company called Gorgeous Homes is one of the few that actually has Artisians to do this kind of Stucco. Even though it was higher than the other Stucco, we went for it and now our house is really nice. We are very happy with their work and final outcome.
