Im a Plumber, so I say this to all you nasty scank females that flush your used tampons and your toilet clogs up, why dont you stick your french manicured nails in that nasty toilet and clean it out? why your too good for that! so you call a plumber, he does it but charges for his time, fuel, materials, vehicle, experience and knowledge, but you complain when it cost more than 10 dollars! WTF do you cry babies think this is? charity? you think we should donate our time and materials? all this stuff cost money, how do you think we have to pay for this stuff? duh you never thought about this? i think that 200+ is reasonable for these services, i would have charged your welfare ass alot more! your the type that dont work and want everything for free or highly discounted, NOT ON MY WATCH! have you seen the fuel prices? tool prices? schooling prices? and if you never went to a trade school then you learned from on the job training in return have worked for minimum wage for 5yrs to become a Journeyman so you still complain, why |

Nice enough guy to chat with, but absolutely ridiculous price for the easiest possible access to the main line, even if it is 200 feet long. No discount for needing my tools and help to repair his ancient snake machine, and he broke all three caps to our trap/clean-out manifold and had no qualms about leaving them that way, mentioning it would cost me more to fix if he even had any replacement caps with him. He kept repeating that RotoRooter would've charged $1800 for the same service, but based on costhelper.com reports, he's a crazy liar. I'm ashamed of myself for paying him, but with with my family and upstairs tenants needing facilities restored fast, I was desperate. |

Tub drain completely stopped up...on New Years Eve no less. Called a local rooter company and the guy showed up in few hours. Gave us an estimate of $265, which seems on the high end of reasonable compared to what others are paying. Anyway, the only other option was not taking a shower to go out for New Years...so there you have it. |

I had a grease clog that seems to happen every 5 years or so on this line. I tried a 25ft 1/4 inch drill auger for two days with no success. Plumber took about 2 hours with his 75ft snake to clear it out. Plumbing prices have gone up quite a bit in the last few years. |

We had a renter in the basement suite. She had long haur & washed it every day. The line eventually clogged up. Roto Rooter estimated $250-$300. I went to Walmart & bought a hand crank $16 snake. At home I connected my electric drill to the end rather than than the hand crank. A half hour later & three passes the line was clear. Lot of black smelly goo. This is a cronic clogging problem so the $16 snake will come in handy. |

Firm or Company: Home Depot Rental | Difficulty of Access: Easy |
My House is 86 years old and about every 3-4 years the main drain clogs up with roots. I rented the biggest sewer snake Home Depot has and cleaned it out myself. It was messy job, took about 1/2 hour. The hardest part was getting the thing down the basement. Wear Gloves! Ones you don't mind throwing out. |

I grumble every time I renew my home warranty... until something happens. I just had a clog, seem to get a good one at least once a year, and the service fee I pay with the warranty is $60.00. This time the little snake didn't do it. It got something, but it apparently wasn't THE thing. He had to pull out this monster auger with a scary gnashing metal thing on the end. After he finally conquered the clog after an hour, he told me this trip, without the warranty, would have been over $300. If that was the only thing that went wrong in the house this year I would be under the cost of the warranty, but sadly it's not. |

I didn't get a quote when I called the night before, I guess I was too anxious to just get it done and this company was recommended by my plumber who I trust, and they called me right back (kept trying to get me on the phone until I was able to answer). The guy came first thing the next morning. It didn't take too long, maybe 45 minutes. He said it was a fairly easy job, most are more difficult. 56' to the street. He did spend time to explain some things to me about prevention, and he didn't make a mess. I guess I'm glad it wasn't $500-$1000, which I had anticipated. 60 day guarantee. |

Clothes washer sink not draining. I feel lucky because I received a 15% discount. They made up for it though with the undisclosed $29.50 charge for "Truck Operating Supplies" (of which there were none). Lots of attempts to upsell other services. The drain is fixed but it seems like far too much money for this service |

Basement shower was backing up and flooding the basement. So he had to snake the main line. Cost was going to be about 600, but with some "discounts" came to about $516. I think this was WAY overpriced but when you can't use any water in your house you want it fixed quick and they know that which is why they charge insanely for main line snakes. And people wonder why everyone wants to DIY it! |

After receiving a bill for $303 for a simple snake of a kitchen drain, a simple snake for a bathtub, both due to slow drainage, and the replacement of an 8" piece of tubing going from toilet tank to water source I felt really taken advantage of. While I was not home at the time, my family told me the plumber was there less than 1/2 an hour. I called the billing number to review the invoice. Turns out according to them, the invoice was correct. They charge by item for a simple snake for the kitchen sink-$143, a simple snake for the bath tub-$104-oh, he gave me 25% discount for that--why--who knows. For the plumbing portion (replacing the tube on the bottom of the tank to the water spigot), they charge a per hour rate. This charge was $75.00. Still not clear if that was broken down for the 5 min. repair of how they figured that exactly. Wish I say this site first and had asked for a quote. Never will use Roto Robbers again. |

Rented a 50ft snake and had the job done in 15 once I found the right access point. Plumber charged $400.00 last time and wanted $500.00 this time. It was way easy to do (though a little messy....getting snake outside and rinsed off.) My first time doing it. I'm female in 50's...so anyone can do this. |

nice guy, seemed expensive. i wasn't sure how much others charge so i dint get other quotes, i just wanted the job done. however if i got overcharged, the guy made sure my washer worked and that my drain didn't backup. he also helped me move the washer machine back into the room since i had removed it earlier. so we ran it a couple of times. they also give you a 6 month service guarantee, which is nice but not sure ill use it in six months. i've heard its easy and some say its something that you should leave to the plumber, snaking the drain. |

Since the company did not give any price ranges over the phone I had to call in. Technician came out very fast and charged 29 dollars on the spot. The estimate of $377.40 for snaking the drain, but was quickly lowered to $266 after my complain that the price is way too high. Nevertheless, I decided not to pay the amount and fixed it myself for $27 dollars (the price of the most expensive sewer snake at home depot) |

Firm or Company: Precision Plus | Difficulty of Access: Clogged Toilet |
Other Work: complimentary drain cleanings |
I have two children, one of whom is seven, who use way too much toilet paper. First, the water went down slow then it just wouldn't go down @ all but nursing a broken ankle and not being able to get to a hardware store makes your options very limited. Anyway, I did some research and went to the yellow pages and found Precision Plus and I liked their websites and well as reviews and decided to give then a call. To make a long story short, I called and was able to speak to someone directly and he came out in about and hour. Once here he unclogged the toilet and I was very satisfied with the service. Being a renter I wasn't aware that a plumber would cost so much because I would call maintenance and my problem would be solved, but time was of the essence with this one so I coughed up the money. |

I had an obvious clogged toilet. What do I do?? google?? precisely..
2 hours late of the appointed time the guy arrived. Whenever I flush the water just keeps rising. he told me its gonna cost you 70 bucks to insert some sort of snake. He then realized that there was no use.. so he resorted to plucking that whole thing up and hosing it down which costed me a whopping 250 bucks for lifting the shitter and installing a new wax ring.. |

my basement was flooded. i could not take a shower or even brush my teeth without the water backing up into the basement floor. it was a mess because of two small kids going to the bathroom contantly. i had a plumber come and he told me it was the main pipe. the job took less than 30mins and i felt i was taken. i had no damage in my pipe, but for just 20mins, that is too much money. i will never do this again. i will just call those $39.95 plumber. i felt sheated. |

Estimate $600.00 so my tenant said "go ahead" then paid the bill of $838.15 for an hour and a half's work, from the ground PVC clean out. I called Roto Rooter and they said a manager would call back to discuss, no calls. Checking local plumbers avg. would have charged $300-$400.
I highly recommend not giving Roto Rooter any business, as they are unscrupulous and way over priced. |

Renting a pipe snake has proven to be a very cost effective means to remove a drain clog. I spent 29.15 to rent an auto-feed pipe snake for half a day. I could have taken a manual one for a slightly less price, but being very unfamiliar with them, I chose the one that seemed to require less work. I spent perhaps 30 minutes using the machine, I sent it through the drain twice and now I have a perfectly flowing drain again. Novice doesn't even come close to describing my inept plumbing skills and I was able to manage this. I highly recommend checking with any tool/plumbing supply companies in your area for those that rent a pipe snake. Be sure to consult the rental company for all safety and operational information about the machine you rent. Good luck! |

They snaked out my main sewer line - which has been done several times in the past by roto-rooter and other plumbers never charging more than $415. The roto rooter plumber did not speak English in a manner that I could easily understand. In retrospect, I should have called Roto-Rooter and canceled when I couldn't understand their plumber, before letting him Roto-ROOK me for 2x's what any other plumber would charge! |

They just used a drain cleaning machine to drill out the clog. The total time from arrival to finish is about 20 minutes. Lucky at the end I ask him what is the root cause and he threw in the camera inspection into the package. But I think it is still pretty expensive. |

All they had to do is go on the roof to the vent and stick the snake down it to unclog the mess. The job took about 20 mins and the house is 50 years old, so who knows when it had been done before. My advice just rent the equipment and do it yourself to save some $$$. |
