Water Heater Replacement
Amount: $875.00
Posted by: John C Moerk in Hendersonville, NC.Posted: August 15th, 2015 03:08PM
Project: Water HeaterPlumber: Service Today
Found a leak in my water heater on a Saturday. Called Service Today, who handle(d) all my HVAC/Electrical/Plumbing services. They furnished the water heater (identical to Lowes - retail price $319). For less than 2 hours work, I was billed $875, including cost of water heater. Parts were few, couple of PEX fittings and couple of feet of PEX. I figure he charged about $250/hour. My fault, I trusted him - should asked ahead of time. Didn't ever itemize the bill. Should have done it myself as I had done 4 or 5 times before.

Project: replacing an outside water faucetPlumber: Roto-Rooter
I believe we got rip-off by these plumbers.
They replaced an outside water faucet which the cost for parts was $56.09 and labor cost $445.00!!
Total: $501.09!! It took two plumbers not more than an hour to replace it. I was quite vulnerable at the time and needed to get this done without realizing how much it was going to cost us. [my wife and I]. And not only that, one of the plumbers used our washroom to take a crap without asking for our permission, which he stunk up our home!! He got his nerve to do something like this. After they left, I called Roto-Rooter and complained to management about all I've stated here. The manager said that's what the rate is and that the plumber shouldn't have used our washroom. This is totally a big rip-off!!

when using water in house or yard the water pressure would surge. Plumber said after having water shoot out of valve that entire thing t-bar, tank, regulator would have to be replaced because the bladder was blown. Does all have to be replaced and is this a comparable charge?

Water Heater Pressure Regulator replacement
Amount: $580.00

Project: Replaced Water Heater Pressure ValvePlumber: Aaron Plumbing Heating & Air Conditionin
I was given this quote for replacing a Water Heater Pressure Regulator. The plumber is very nice and knowledgeable. My concern is that i do not have any knowledge in this area, and other plumbers want to come to my house to give me a quote rather then do it on the phone. This puts me in a pickle as i cannot stay home and wait on these guys during the week to come and check out the situation. I've read other posts where users have paid between $280 - $400 for the same repair. I just want to know if anyone has had this done and what they paid so that i can know if i am overpaying or not.

Replace pump pressure gauge
Amount: $298.00
Posted by: B Rath in South Windsor, CT.Posted: May 19th, 2015 07:05PM
Project: Leaking pump pressure gaugePlumber: Aiello Service
Came home to a leak in a basement. Apparently the pressure gauge was broken. Had Aiello come out the next day. They charged $49 to have the plumber come out. The guy charged another @240 to replace the gauge, a 15 min task. Then he looked at the pressure switch and recommended we change it. The proposed charge was an additional $430. Needless to say I declined the service. Its a $25 part and 1 hour DIY fix which I did later that day.

Project: Repair old school plumbing patchPlumber:
I bought a small house that needed to be torn down to build a new one. The main sewer line was stopped up. Rooted it back about 10' and it was solid. Had a backhoe handy so dug it up and found a piece of mobile home metal covering a hole that had been cut out of the top of the pipe. After finding 2 more repairs just like this I replaced the entire drain. A friend of mine was renting a house a block over from me and was having problems with his main backing up. We found 3 more of the same metal patches in the first 40'. I replaced the entire main for him. Glad we did because there were 5 more patches. The last one was just a few feet from the city sewer main. When I was a kid my grandmother rented the same house and I remember the owner coming over many times with a shovel and a skil saw. Basically he cut into the top of the pipe to root it out and covered it with metal. There is a reason plumbers have to be certified. Be cautious of older plumbers who "grandfathered" in without testing

I install the cabinet without replacing the old lines with new.
It's just my luck both line leaked and the space for me to fix them was to small to get my hands in. I called and they were here in a very short time. The plumber was very polite and straight up with cost.

Bathroom Rough In Insane Quote
Amount: $6,740.00

Project: Bathroom Rough InPlumber: A&W Plumbing
Just had an insane quote, we just demoed a bathroom (no wall, no floors, everything exposed) and it has a crawl space under it. We asked to move the existing plumbing around. They said it would take 2 plumbers 3 days and the cost was $6740 .... That's all labor with maybe 300 in cpvc and pvc. It's a 1 day job at most for a competent plumber ...

Unclog and repair drain
Amount: $2,250.00
Posted by: [email protected] in Richmond, VA.Posted: August 6th, 2014 08:08AM
Project: Repair and UnclogPlumber:
On saturday 19 July, we called Masters and Sons in for an emergency call to unstop all the drains in my home. One worker showed up removed the toilet, used a snake camera and a snake device. He was there for appr 3 hours and charged $525.00. I was fine with this price however the serviceman stated there was more work to be done and that there was a clog in the main drain and he would come back Monday to repair. He returned on Monday morning with two workers. They dug up the main drain and "supposedly discovered a faulty repair" they displayed a patch of steel that "supposedly" was placed there by another plumber. After the work was completed they gave me a bill for $1725.00. I was shocked and disturbed by the amount charged. . In my opinion this was price gauging. Our country should not allow this and I will report them to the BBB as well.

Colorado Spings Plumbers and their Prices
Amount: $90.00
Posted by: Ernie.G in Colorado Springs, CO.Posted: February 5th, 2012 10:02AM
Project: Main Line ClogPlumber: Pro Power Rooter
I live in Colorado Springs, CO we had a plumbing company come over and look at our toilet to see why it wasn't flushing. They said it was our main line that was clogged and said they would charge me $180.00 to pull the toilet and run a snake machine in the sewer line but it would only have a 7 day guarantee. I could not afford it, so I ended up finding out from one of my neighbours about Pro power rooters prices so I called them up. Their diagnosis and the pricing was unbelievable to say the least, they found my clean out in my front yard and didn't even have to pull the toilet . It only ended up costing me $90.00 for the intire bill with a guarantee of 90 days. If your living in the Springs call them 719 331-4071
