Project: re-seal toilet | Plumber: San Jose Plumbing |
We already had a plumber on-site to install our other toilet, and we noticed the seal had broken on our main toilet a while ago, so we decided to re-do the wax ring and re-set it. While the toilet was off, I asked if I could get 5 minutes to try to scrub off all the yucky yellow goop around the toilet. When the plumber saw it, he said it probably wouldn't come off because it was so old and had gotten all crusty. I used Comet with bleach and a bristley sponge and he was right, it didn't come off much, but it got a little better. So the wax ring got replaced and the toilet is re-sealed at least. The lesson learned was that next time the toilet seal breaks and it starts seeping a little, we need to call a plumber quickly so we can try to clean it off before it dries out and gets too crusty. |

Project: Repair | Plumber: Gillece Plumbing Pittsburgh |
To replace the supply line ONLY was $350, plus another 300 for the inners (flapper and valves) but since I already had the parts they could have done it for an additional $150. So supply line/valve replacement + valve replace with own parts ~$500. Told them to go hang. |

3 of the toilets in our home were not functioning properly. The quote was $180 per toilet. Seemed high to me and the parts are less than $25, but after checking this site, I guess it's in the range! |

That's a lot of money for me on a fixed income. Replacing the old old toilet would cost $1,400. Never again. |

Project: replace toilets | Plumber: Annointedservices Home Improvement |
The quote for replacing toilets should be base on age of unit and plumbing associated with it.
The average plumber will charge a standard rate,
for coming out and the cost of your materials
example the avg toilet cost 100-150 multiply that
by (2) 100 for materials plus 200 for labor! My company charges a rate of 1.5* material on most home improvement needs. We are based in Matteson Illinois web: annointedservices.com for a free quote! |

Project: Leaking Toilet at tank | Plumber: Roto Rooter |
The plumber quoted my $350.00 to replace the inside parts of the tank and the bolts IF he was able to remove them, if not he said he would have to remove the entire toilet so that he could access the bolts better which would cost me $500.00. I asked him what it would cost to have him put in a new toilet and he said $457.00. So I told him to have a nice day and thanks for coming out, but I'm going to get a second opinion. |

Project: Leaking water around bolt from toilet ta | Plumber: "Honest Plumber"Las Vegas |
The plumber tried to sell me a new toilet, saying we needed one, which I knew better, for $660.00. Then he said we needed a new shut off valve because the one we had was probably shot. I told him it wasn't! Then he said he couldn't just replace the leaking bolt, he'd have to replace all the insides and that would be $260.00. I told him no way, I could do it my self even though I'm legally blind! I had him go ahead with the job with a discount at $220.00 for "Seniors" |
