Total spent: $2,000. Three large, mature trees, all near or extending over the house. Two of the three trees over the power and cable lines to the house. Power and cable lines were damaged as a consequence of the tree work. |

Got a couple of quotes ranging from 2500 to 6500 for taking down 2 live pines, 2 dead pines, and one massive 145' tall pine. Best quote was at 400 per tree and 1000 for the big tree. I was pleased with their efficiency and the pine mulch they let me keep. |

Neighbors had some live oaks nicely trimmed for $50 a tree by these guys and recommended them. Our trees are quite a bit bigger and have never had a good thinning, so they asked for $150 a tree, but accepted $125. This price did not include haul-off - they stacked on curb for the city's monthly bulk waste pickup. |

Some guy on Craigslist is paying 100.00 to remove his dead cedar tree from his property. He wants it cut down and hauled away for 100.00. I Emailed him and told him that I would "make it fall on his property for 100 bux" He wondered why he was getting such high estimates. |

Type of Tree: All trees | Height: all heights |
Contractor: only licensed |
Remember that Tree Care is truly a service that falls into the category of "you get what you pay for". Licensed and Insured companies do cost a little more than the door knockers, but the difference in service can be priceless. Tree work is dangerous and only a trained professional should be allowed on your property. The best way to get a competitive bid is to get at least 3 bids from competing licensed companies. Look on the web. |

We discussed removing the 3 broken branches and 'tipping' the lower branches. They cut everthing away from the lower half. Very unhappy. negotiated paying $1,000. Still very high. |

Type of Tree: Palm | Height: 30' |
We have a Washingtonia robusta palm in front of our house -- the tall, thin, common kind. It's around 30' tall. It looks a little bad because the last 10' has a thick, curled-up, shrub-like gray husk from where the palm fronds used to be. We've asked a few tree pruning services, and every one has quoted $300 to prune the palm. They claim it's so expensive because the tree is so tall and they have to specially dispose of palm tree leaves. |
