Based on all the post listed, the calculated mean pricing for vinyl siding should run approximately $8.04 per square foot for labor and material with a reputable contractor. Some areas of the country will be less, and some areas might be more. Make sure your contractor is licensed, insured, and possible bonded. Check their references and ask to see pictures of past work and call past clients to get some feedback. Don't always go with the low-ball contractor because they might not be reputable. As a client, you must perform you do diligence in selecting the right contractor. A good contractor will provide you with as much information as you request so DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK for as much information as you need to make you feel comfortable that you are getting the best deal for your money while also receiving a good service. After all....you home is most of our largest investments in a lifetime, so you need to protect your investment. Good luck to you all!!! |

Estimated price includes material and labor. In addition to siding, price includes 235 linear feet of soffit, 2 new gable vents, and build outs for 13 windows. Contractor to cover old existing Masonite siding with styrofoam insulation before installing vinyl siding. How does this estimate compare? |

Met with the salesperson. Demonstrated what appears to be excellent products and installation, which includes high end vinyl, greenguard raindrop moisture barrier, foam backing, trim, soffitts, gutters, tear off and removal. The price offered after discounts is $48,545 for approx. 2400 sq ft. Agreeing that this may be premium service, it still sounds high to me. Thoughts? |

I installed the siding with a few friends. I rented a few pieces of equipment and did a much better job than any greedy contractor would do. I had a few contractors give quotes I didn't know they paid their guys $300. an hour. |

Sq Ft of Home: 2800 | Sq ft of siding: 3600 |
Brand: Crane | Installer: Power Windows and Siding |
Job was to remove old Aluminum Siding, Re-side house in solid core Vinyl Siding, sofitt, Alum clad leaders and gutters, appy alum trim around existing windows (25 windows). Original quote was extremely high 52K then reduced to 35k. Sign on the spot reduced the price to $26,600. Was this a final fair price for Staten Island NY location. Home is 48 by 27 feet 2 story high ranch type home. PWS seems to have padded extra sq feet needed for job. |

I got an estimate of $36,000 for 30 squares of NewPro's premium insulated siding with seamless gutter, 34 linear ft. of freeze, 156 linear ft. of soffit. This included stripping the existing aluminum and wood down to the sheathing. Looks like good quality stuff but the price is more than double what I expect, am I incorrect? |

You sir are a con. There is no way you can say the insurance estimate project was high at $1ooo. You never saw the job. I do insurance work and they will give the least amount possible to do the job.
How do you know how much siding is needed on a house you have never seen? You do realize the amount of siding in the quote usually has 10% waste on it, don't you?
Do you think the cost of doing business in Chicago is the same as NC? What are your comp rates? Are you and your partner insured?
Bad mouthing people when you don't have details is really low class. |

I have never seen so many outrageous quotes per sq ftage, in my life!! Yes, it may differ some per product and region of the country but most of the people that I have read so far will really be taken to the cleaners if they fall for these quotes. My partner and I install siding, etc in the Greensboro, NC area and charge $200-300 per square for materials and labor, or more if product is more. These outrageous quotes are also calling for way too much siding and if the customer doesn't know any better they will get ripped off, because they are overcharging you for materials. To the siding guru in OH, just because the price is reasonable and the installers are honest about it, doesn't mean you end up with all that negative stuff you mentioned. We are honest and fair and just trying to make a living but the greedy contractors and dishonest and sloppy installers make it hard on all of us.To the people in Kings Mtn, NC, the quote you got of $1000 was a bit higher than it needed to be. I think the insurance money would have covered it. Ann in Greensboro, contact us and we'll give you a fair and honest quote. [email protected] |

Complain to the insurance company. That's what my dad did when they tried to pay him a depreciated price for shingles that had hail damage. They are ripping you off for sure. Tell them if they don't pay you'll call your lawyer. You pay the same amount of insurance on new or older shingles so they should pay you the full amount. If they are paying you the depreciated value ask them why the cost of insurance doesn't get lower as your shingles get older since they will be paying out less. It's an insurance company con. Tell them to pay up or you will sue. |

Sq Ft of Home: 1200 | Sq ft of siding: 1460 |
Brand: envirowall | Installer: tri state |
Help! My house is a raised ranch that is 48X25. We will get new gutters, sofifts, casings, moulding around the door, and an envirowall product that gives a $1500 tax rebate. the product is energy rated and environmentally friendly. Is this too much for this size house? The product looks superior to regular vinyl siding and has a double lifetime gaurentee on the product and labor. Is this a crazy amount of money? |
